the How, What, When & Why of Going Green”
A riveting panel discussion designed especially for AHRMA. This panel will feature leaders in the Green Movement in Central Texas. The discussion will include: How to start a green initiative in your company; what does going green do for your company and why is it important; How to maximize your ROI; Over coming obstacles and How to measure the success of the program.
Facilitating the panel discussion will be Ms. Shari Carle.
In nearly 11 years of employment at Dell Computers—the last four spent establishing the company’s sustainability function—Shari Carle wrote Dell’s book on green procedures while engaging with socially responsible shareholders, working closely with the company’s investor relations team to address concerns and identify its best practices, and measuring success. She marshaled the development of various policies and positions to communicate the company’s commitment to sustainable practices, including Dell’s forest products stewardship model, which set measurable goals and standards to protect forest resources.
The panelists include:
• Robert Piller has been helping companies to go green since 1990. His company, Eco Marketing Solutions, based in Austin, helps businesses of all sizes to promote their brand and image in a more green-friendly way through marketing programs and environmentally friendly promotional products, such as recycled tote bags, biodegradable water bottles, pens made from corn starch, etc. His company works with businesses and organizations that have chosen to “go green” and want to promote that message—both internally and externally. He is a frequent columnist and lecturer on green marketing issues and has a blog at GreenSpotBlog.com.
• William Sparks is with Austin Energy’s Key Accounts team. In this role, Mr. Sparks works with Commercial customers to conserve water and energy through the City of Austin’s conservation programs. Additionally, the Key Accounts Team has created a new sustainability component that has been added to their day-to-day operations. Mr. Sparks is the Chairman of the Austin Chamber of Commerce’s South Austin Business Council Board of Directors. Prior to his position with Austin Energy, Mr. Sparks was the Director of Business Development for UVS, where he specialized in forming strategic partnerships with Multinational chemical companies in an effort to bring emerging green technologies to market. Bill has a BA from the University of Arizona and is a graduate of Leadership Austin.
• Kimberlee Flores, Director of Human Resources with Green Mountain Energy. Kimberlee has been a Human Resource professional for over 12 years. She has experience in industries such as hospitality, manufacturing, banking, high-tech and renewable energy. Kimberlee has been with Green Mountain Energy Company, a retail electric provider, since 2003. She currently leads the Green Mountain Energy’s efforts in recruiting, performance management, organizational and employee development, compensation and training.
