2009 PINNACLE AWARD WINNER!!
AWARD PRESENTATION
At the AHRMA December 17th Holiday Luncheon, ADP representative, Brad Burrows, presented Ramona Rohrer, Past President 2009, Marilyn Martin, Past President 2008, and Cathy Wodarski, Past President 2005 with a check for $1,000. This was in recognition of AHRMA being recognized as one of seven 2009 SHRM Pinnacle Chapter Award winners, the highest honor given to HR organizations for innovative programs. See link to November 20th article: “AHRMA WINS SHRM PINNACLE AWARD”
Created in 1991, the SHRM Pinnacle Award annually recognizes state councils and chapters for creating programs that solve local workforce challenges and surpass the standard activities of SHRM affiliates. AHRMA’s volunteer leadership development program, Stepping Stones to Enhanced Leadership, met that criteria and was honored with this prestigious award.
BACKGROUND
A brief background to the development of Stepping Stones follows.
In 2007, the Austin Human Resource Management Association recognized a leadership drain as older members of the association and the Executive Committee began to retire. The chapter created a leadership academy to develop emerging volunteer leaders for future roles.
This initiative led to the creation of an innovative succession planning solution, “Stepping Stones to Enhanced Leadership,” a three-pronged value proposition that set goals for the membership … the profession … and the employer community. The program provided a talent pipeline that filled 60 percent of Board positions in the first year and 75 percent in the second year.
“Stepping Stones” promotes the association’s image and reputation as an exemplary HR professional organization, attracting new members and volunteers and ensuring the chapter’s continued success and growth.
THANKS…
“Thank you Brad and ADP for recognizing “Stepping Stones” and presenting us with this prestigious award.
It has been a privilege and a labor of love for me to lead this initiative and I extend thanks to all those who were involved – the instructors, the graduates, and all existing participants. But especially:
Marilyn Martin – who had the vision to establish a leadership academy, and
Cathy Wodarski – who partnered with me to bring Marilyn’s vision to life with the design, development, and implementation of “Stepping Stones.”
The mission of “Stepping Stones” is to “develop future leaders within the HR profession” and we are doing that at AHRMA – LEADERSHIP ROCKS!!”
